It overlaps with SPROM_PA0B0, so I'm not sure it's correct.  I would be
more willing to agree with you if you were restoring incorrectly changed
code, or fixing an inconsistency between reading and writing.  However,
I cannot support assertions not based on the (pre-)existing code or
reverse engineering.

That's a valuable piece of information.

But I think the first priority should be restructuring of ssb-eeprom to
make inconsistencies unlikely and to allow accumulating information
about new SPROM formats without having to change the code too much.
