All valid points. But they basically come down to: you need more
flexibility from your distro. Ubuntu's designers have carefully cut
out a lot of flexibility from the default install to make it simpler.
The Windows crowd loves it.

I guess Ubuntu is not your cup of tea. But is it the worst ever? Try
Linpus Linux and see :-)
