Dear Shahriar, (1) I have developed some application in Java using Borland J Builder 10 (Demo version) where Forms can be designed graphically. It also has wizards to generate DataForms(it automatically generates huge amount of code). java can connect any database with jdbc.
Any way, IMPORTANT issue is Borland J Builder can generate binary (Jar files, .EXE) for most of the well known OS (Windows, Linux, Solaris, Mac etc) from the same Project. (2) Code managebility is another issue. Always follow ONE frame-work. Frame-work will help you in every step of Software Life Cycle. (3) Dont forget the issue of DEPLOYMENT, MAINTAINENCE and Update. Web application has single point of maintanence (also single point of failure). Greate advantage. If very very good speed is not needed you should go for web application. Remember, more number of users more time/money/labor in deployment and maintanence For Desktop application. But web application need same amount of time/money/labor.
