Dear All,
While trying to install Fedora Core 1, I am prompted that there is an
input/output error in my /dev/hda. Then it says that there might be some
problem with my disk geometry. It asks if I would opt for initializing the
disk(losing all data). It also suggested that I should prefer LBA mode or
something like that.
Now, this particular disc is a 120GB one, has several partitions, detected
fine in WINXP, had previous linux installations.
The last time it troubled me was when one fine morning I found my Windows
drive corrupted (resulting in failing to boot). Then I had to format the
Windows drive and the Linux installation to make it work.
Do you have any idea how the 'Disk Geometry' of my disk can be made OK to
the Fedora Core installer?
I cannot find any problem in Windows or using Partition Magic 8.0 .
Definitely, I cannot afford to format the full disk because I would lose
huge data.
I am searching, but can you give me any idea I should try to be able to
install Linux safely again?

PS: Anything to do with setting the CHS/LBA parameters while installing?
