I agree solely!!!! But I think you must not relay on CCNA / CCSP only for
TCP/IP knowledge. You should also look into microsoft's networking
protocols.  Unix /Linux is a must must.

For starter C++ and socket may not be essential. But I believe BS7799 is
necessary for starter. There are some indian institutes that offer BS7799
(lower the cost!!!).

On how far you are willing to go, that depends on how much you want to get
paid for.... USD5000/= per day for consultancy :)

Statistically this is the highest paid job in the market.
