For sure, if you CAN get fresh, raw milk, like from another cow down the
road or from a dairy farmer from his bulk tank, it is way better. Your calk
will do much better. If you can't my experience is use the higher priced
non-medicated milk replacer, give small feedings and try three or four
rather than the common two, and just in case you overfeed on any one
feeding and you let the calf overfill her stomach and it goes on over into
the intestines undigested and causes the scours, feed a little yogurt
without delay to correct the situation. If it is three days old it won't
eat any hay for the first month or so, or any other dry feed, such as calf
starter. At one month it will experiment with grass but not derive much
nourishment from this. Kelp, salt, EM all may be of benefit if given in
trace amounts. But raw milk! Ah, that's the ONE!
