Welcome to the IFOAM 2002 Organic World Congress "Cultivating Communities". The Organic World Congress will bring together representatives of the organic movement from around the world. It is open to everyone interested in organic agriculture and sustainable development - farmers, researchers, advisors, food processors, traders, certifiers, policy makers and consumers. Over 1000 delegates are expected to attend. "Cultivating Communities" was chosen as the motto for the Congress to highlight the role of organic agriculture in sustaining healthy, vibrant communities whether they be communities of micro-organisms in the soil, communities of beneficial insects in the orchard or rural and urban communities anywhere in the world. Canadian Organic Growers is organizing the 2002 Organic World Congress on behalf of the International Federation of Organic Agriculture Movements (IFOAM). The main events are the 14th Organic World Congress, the 4th IFOAM Organic World Exhibition, the 7th International Congress on Viticulture and Wine, and the IFOAM General Assembly. The Conference Centre is located close to the inner harbour and adjacent to the Empress Hotel in downtown Victoria. The Organic World Exhibition is one block from the conference centre in the grounds of St. Ann�s Academy. The Congress will explore issues, the current research and practical applications of organic agriculture in plenary sessions, workshops, panel discussions and posters. There will be simultaneous translation in English/French/Spanish for all plenary keynote speakers and for some other sessions. NB: The Delegate Sponsorship Program is now closed.
