Steve - Is this what you've been doing 'all along'? And although you've been doing this, you still got the 'mildew'? Is that the only fungal problems you witness? Incidentally, taking some advice, I let my mildewed winter squash go without treatment. They are 'all' still alive and stll producing fruit, fruit that looks as good as any I've grown.
