I endorse Liz's post in its entirety. The reason for this about-face is very simple. I was so frightened last Saturday you would hardly believe it, and that was without facing the horror experienced by people who live in (and in some cases behind) the 'bushland' suburbs. It has been very difficult to grasp the enormity of the destruction in Duffy and suburbs next to and behind it, most of it caused by fireballs believed to have been generated when a softwood plantation in the path of a firestorm driven by galeforce winds exploded. Fireballs which vaulted up to 5 kilometres at a time in unpredictable directions, destroying several homes at each impact. Cars too.

I have not been right to the edge of the abyss this time but I've been close enough to re-evaulate my position on a lot of things and make a few changes .

Liz is right, it is our beliefs and values that are important - indeed, I would say vitally important - to us and so is their communication to anyone and everyone who might be interested, and for whatever reason.

So I say keep this link out in the open for all to see regardless of any consequences.

Also please let us drop the terms 'lurk' and 'lurking' which have such sinister connotations.

If this link went underground we would be stifling the link that 2000+ / wk
tap into. Research in this area is indicating that the minority (us) is now
growing at a rapid rate, should we not nurture and feed rather than be
silenced?
