I was walking in our garden yesterday. It was 42F outside and sunny. Two of the fall lettuce beds under row cover were uncovered (of the snow) and the lettuce was all alive. We had a mild winter. I walked through the snow to the other side of the garden which is much colder, but the west side of the beds just at the bottom of the mounds was uncovered and there was a blooming Johnny Jump-Up. We have Johnny Jump-ups all over our garden because I don't have the heart to pull them all out. I like them. The pH is ~7 there and I never see them outside the garden where it is more acidic.
