Hi amit,
 
Implementing single-sign-on is not difficult at all. All you need 
is a central user details repository - could be database, could be 
directory access, and then you need a set of generic components that do the 
sign-in process. You could also give some templates for developers to integrate 
the logic into their applications. Be sure to use generic templating like XML, 
XSL, etc.
 
You cannot use Passport for custom databases. Though you can use the SDK 
for doing sign-ons in your intranet application - the sign-on will happen over 
the web. Still suggest you download the passport SDK and look into the features 
provided there to help you design your custom sign-on.
