Hi   Gaurav!!!  An analogy could be the NTVDM(NT Virtual DOC machine) in Windows NT , 
which is basically a Virtual DOS Machine to launch 16 bit applications.  When such an 
app is launched in the NTVDM,  the VDM provides an environment equivalent to DOS and 
the app is made to believe that it is running inside its native OS for which the 
programme was written.  The VDM takes care of operations like thunking(16 bit <->32 
bit conversions) etc.  So for the 16 bit app the VDM is equivalent to the  Virtual 
Execution System  and it does not know about the underlying OS on which the VDM itself 
runs, i.e. NT Right!!!       regards sr
