Yes each tier would be on different machines. In an extreme case the middle tier as 
well as the data tier would each be hosted on more than one machine (many clients 
machines, many middle tier machines and many data tier machines). I was thinking of 
remoting too but I also wish to know of any workable solutions using dcom with dotnet.
