Look at the next statement InFile = new FileStream(full_name,FileMode.Open,FileAccess.Read); Remeber the code is running on the server side,you are trying to open the file that is present on the client pc.Hence you are getting file not found exception. In the later case (c:\a.txt) since the path is existing both on the client and server it not complaining .
