In simple words, every application running in a Windows environment is regarded as 
'one' process. Each such process might have single or multiple threads depending on 
the threading model followed by the process... The threading models can be described 
as :    Single Threading :- the meaning is implicit in the name itself...    Apartment 
Threading (STA or Single Threaded Apartment) :- The process is divided into various 
apartments and each apartment is composed of a single thread.   Free Threading (MTA or 
Multi Threaded Apartment) :- The process consists of a single apartment and the 
apartment can hold multiple threads.   STA and MTA are obviously multi threading 
models and hence perform better than single threading. MTA performs better than STA 
because of the fact that communication between apartments in STA requires proxies that 
adds to a performance overhead.   ---That should give a bird's eye view of the
