How to Parse a XML String which is not WellFormed.

Hi all,   I have an urgent issue to be solved. i am having a xml string which is the 
result from a DB. my problem is there are some records which containing charecteres 
like "<" and  ">". now when i am trying to build an Xml document with this xml string 
it is giving error as the xml string is not in well formed.   my xml string is like :  
   <Root>
     <Record id="1">
         <empid>100</empid>
         <empaddress>hno: 122, <x street> </empaddress>
     </Record>
  </Root> i am getting all the above xml string in form of a string, and now how to 
parse the 
<x street> as         &lt;x street&gt;       in my string. 
Please can any body give any solution for this, this is urgent for me,
any help is really apreciated.   Regards,
