is passed as a "managed pointer" and not as an "object reference". i dont know how
this one works. maybe somebosy can throw light on this. [ here's what i think: & of
"something" is passed and an in-place assignment is done. a new "something" string is
created, if there r strings that have value "something" and their pointers r
reassigned. ] anyways, for all practical purposes string behaves like a value type
