Hi Srinivas,

I have tried to truncate the log

Using

DBCC SHRINKFILE (log_file_name,expected
size)

It doesn't reduce the log file
size

Thank you,

Best Regards,

Soumitra

There are many options you can use to generate test data.
The simplest is to use some function to randomize the
input. What kind of testing are you looking at?? If it is
performance testing, then your data needs to be as random as
possible, otherwise the indexes on the table will not be
                properly used.

If you simply want more data in the table, use INSERT INTO
table SELECT * FROM table. Note that as you keep doing this, the
time increases, since SQL Server is also logging the data. At
this stage you can either TRUNCATE the log and then continue
loading (this might be something you will want to do in your SP
                also).

If this seems still slower, generate your data through
other means (for example in a XL spreadsheet) and then use a
tool like DTS to upload the data. DTS provides for data batching
and can help speed data loading.

                HTH,
