you can convert the number to string and use this :   string toBeSplit = "xyz=1";
char[] splitChar = new char[1];
splitChar[0] = Convert.ToChar("=");
string[] splitValues = toBeSplit.Split(splitChar); 
loop through the array to get the values.   or u can use the 
<asp:RegularExpressionvalidator: runat="server" controltovalidate="textbox1" 
validationexpression="[0-9]{5}.[0-9]{5}" which implies that a 5digit number with a 
5digit decimal".  i know irt is vague.but see if u can use it, Regards, Arjun
