Hi, I fully agree to the fact that using sqlclient clas is the best way to connect to 
sql server databases. But the problem is i need to retrieve connection strings from an 
ini file which specifies a dsn. And since this ini file is being used by existing vb 
apps also, i need to stick to the same. Anyway, thanks a lot for the help. Lets see if 
i can use odbc in place.   Regards, Arijit
