Hi ,
I am sorry there's a small mistake with my last implementation ,
go thru following code where i have implemented same thing using temp tables :
create table #Parent
(
id int primary key ,
parentname varchar(30)
)
create table #Child
(
id int ,
Childname varchar(30)
)
I have inserted following records both tables respectively :
-- Parent Table
id parentname
----------- ------------------------------
1 John
2 Don
3 Som
-- Child Table
id Childname
----------- ------------------------------
3 Tom
3 kallu
-------------- Main Query -----------------------------------------
select #Parent.id ,
IsNull(#Child.Childname,#Parent.parentname)
from #Parent left outer join #Child
on #Parent.id = #Child.id
union
select distinct #Parent.id ,
#Parent.parentname
from #Parent inner join #Child
on #Parent.id = #Child.id
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
/*
Drop table #Parent
Drop table #Child
*/
revert back in case of any issue .
