hi tangi...   as mrinal has described, XML has become a very important part of dotnet, 
web services use xml to communicate to send data over the HTTP...... just some simple 
uses can be to write the contents of a dataset as an XML file.... this xml can be used 
to write to an excel file using a transform....   serialization uses XML to write the 
contents of the object being serialized as an XML file to the harddisk, can be 
deserialized by reading the XML file again.....   the list of uses for XML is 
endless........ so u'll get to know the uses as u start using them....   regds
