Windows Authentication 2. Form Authentication 3. Passport authentication 4. Custom Authentication . Beside this there are some SOAP authentication techniques , for securing the data being passed over the network . Only thing that's different is , here normally an appication consumes a webservice instead of a browser client as in case of web application , so security paradigm changes a bit in the sense , you can expect a bit more responsible client .
