Hi Robert, If price of the devkit is important to your client, then I'm assuming the number of final units to be produced is relatively small?
If so, I would recommend the Gumstix Overo. It is a DM3730 module, very similar to the beagleboard xm (but much smaller), and which is suitable for building into products if the runs are limited. My company has built several custom products which have an Overo inside them. Anything you can do with the XM, you can do with the Overo, and the knowledge from one carries over to the other.
