I just tried turning on my BBB after inserting a new (presumably therefore, empty) 32Gb microSD card into it. It failed to boot, just sat with the power LED and the first 3 LEDs permanently on.
Taking the microSD card out makes everything return to normal, BBB boots and I can see it on my LAN.
