The official Angstrom image releases for BBB seem to be at http://elinux.org/Beagleboard:Updating_The_Software (the page title is slightly misleading). The most recent image dates from 2013-09-04, and the u-boot files on its boot partition are from 2013-06-19. This corresponds to the latest modification of [1], where apparently the u-boot patches for BBB are stored. Clearly there is no fix yet! It looks like that repository is maintained by Koen Kooi, so maybe you can send him your patch. Changing the upstream u-boot source probably doesn't make sense since the issue does not apply to other am335x-based systems.
