Hi! I don’t completely understand the problem—is it that the `artist_sort` 
field is missing? Or that `artist` is equal to `artist_sort`?

A couple of ideas might help:
- The `beet modify` command can always make manual changes.
- You might try the `mbsync` plugin to re-download canonical metadata from 
MusicBrainz.
