yes, i disable syntax coloring since it makes it HARDER for me to see
the code. i can parse code and find syntax errors better and almost as
fast as emacs. i don't even consider them bugs but typos and such. this
is just my style and i also disable many other things like
autoformating. again, i can format on the fly and it works well. this
comes from coding too many decades (and i mean decades).
