I really suggest the O'Reilly books, "Learning Perl" 3rd edition. ISBN 0-596-00132-0 Also go to www.CPAN.org, and follow the FAQ on what you need to run a Perl environment on your system. After you've setup an environment, you can start by running some examples in the book to get a grasp.
