"Does anyone think that for certain types of questions an hourly rate
would be justified. In the UK Perl Contractors can earn some silly money.
What would be a reasonable hourly rate in other countries."

I'll take anything you want to send me, but I don't think that anyone
deserves to be paid for answers given on this list. (except maybe drieux,
because he seems to do it for a living :) Why? Because there's noone
twisting our arms making us answer questions. And if we decide that a
question would take too much work or isn't worth our time, we don't have
anyone looking over our shoulder disapprovingly. If we did, then it would
be work. Besides, if people had to pay for answers, then that might
discourage some of the newbies from offering answers when they
know them. After all, free advice that gets corrected by someone else can
be chalked up to a free lesson, but when there's money on the line, its a
totally different story.

So my advice is, if anyone here wants to get paid for this stuff, go out and
post an ad in the classifieds for a Perl tutor. But I promise you it won't
be half as fun.
