I for one appreciate your easy going attitude about it. Reading the
thread it could have even less pleasant very fast otherwise.
Randal was indeed a little harsh, but on the other hand then you did
repeat something sub-optimal after he tried to help you improve your
suggestion. I can see his frustration with that (too).
Please let the subject go, everyone. Not harping on about it will be
the fastest way to get the list back to the usual friendly place (I hope).
That being said, I'd like to point out that Dr. Ruuds suggestion of
using "-f" seems like the most elegant (and portable) solution to the
original posters question. I'll leave it to the rest of you to explain
"-f" and the other file test operators better. :-)
