I saw in SUSE 10.0 box which has X.org 6.8.2 also -- with this change. :-D

The change is, keyboard symbol files are now country wise. In the symbol/
folder you will get "bd" and "in" files respectively for Bangladesh and
India. Probhat layout [and all indic layout] is defined in this "in" file.
There is no "ben" file now. You have to hack the "in" file. :-)

Are you sure it is like this everywhere?  X.org 6.8.2 in my FreeBSD box has
everything (w.r.t XKB) as before.
