Check out the www.bmdca.org site for clubs in your area - that's what we did first. Join a local club! It's great fun; you get to meet all different shapes and sizes of Berners (and people who love them!). You'll get a great chance to see what your preferences REALLY are when you get to spend time with many types of BMDs. PLUS, the club members will be your best source (and referral) when you are ready to get your very own dog. Congratulations on finally being in a position to own one of these wonderful dogs. Recently I got a new job in Cali that gives us much more flexibililty - we're getting a house and my fiancee's only working part-time, so she'll be home more than enough for a new puppy. We spent the last few weeks deciding what puppy to pursue and settled on the BMD, mostly because we have both always loved them, but also because they're athletic dogs and Kari wants to run with him (we're getting a male dog if possible). She's even become a little obsessed with the BMD's, surfing the net for any and all info and even making our screen saver on our computer a BMD puppy. I can't emphasize this strongly enough - there can't be two more people on the planet more psyched to get a BMD than me and Kari. We've literally been waiting for this day for years. I even bought an SUV this week so we could take the dog with us on trips and not have him crammed into a backseat or something.
