Much better than leather is the "microfiber" or "ultrasaude"....fake suade. It is just as durable and so much nicer looking and feeling. Practically indestructable. They also guarrentee it will not stain or they will come clean the stain for free and if they cannot then they will replace that section. I havent needed to call them on it yet, but that's what the salesman said. We have 4 Berners, a Corgi, 2 Goldens and a Lab in our home and it still looks brand new! Not only do the "microfiber" couches not smell like a wet cow, it is not slippery and cold in the winter nor hot and sticky in the summer .... like leather.
