Julia , I don't if this the answer you're looking for , but my Hannah does the same thing :-). And if she can't find her stuffed airplane/train/firetruck (complete with sound effects) , she'll grab ANYTHING that's not nailed down ! But Hannah MUST have SOMETHING to offer us upon greeting , LOL ! She didn't hurt my shoe the one time she grabbed it , either. Just slobbered a little. Maybe it has something to do with pack mentality ?? I"ve seen specials on TV about wild canines and when the parents come home from hunting , the pups trigger the adults to regurgitate food for them.
