Okay, Pat, maybe you can help me here. You stated that I should be able to ask for some kind of "dog report" and receive all the health data that has been reported on that dog. I have been totally unsuccessful in finding anything except GDC, OFA, and CERF numbers. I have twice reported health issues on one of my dogs that are not covered by any similar agency, thinking it would be valuable information for anyone researching her lines. But it doesn't show up anywhere that I can find!

Maybe you or someone else can help those of us who have problems utilizing BernerGarde exactly how to find that information. I've tried looking for dates and causes of death and any other health problems, which is (to me) equally as important as the "standard" clearances, but can't find anything. Can clearances for heart, thyroid, and vWD be reported there? What about health issues such as entropion? Am I doing something wrong?

Please don't get me wrong -- I think BernerGarde is an invaluable tool, but it is not giving me as much information as I thought it would (or could). I've already reported fully on one dog, and will enter my other as soon as I get his clearance certificates from PennHip and OFA. So as long as we're at it, perhaps you can tell me how I can do that myself?

Grateful in Montana,
Vicky Whitney

. . . if you ask for a 'dog' report or 'future puppy' report ALL health data that has been reported by owner/breeder would be in that report including siblings/half siblings, etc.

BGF is a great tool but only as great as the data being given -- if breeders do not use it themselves
for their puppies or owners do not take initiative to input their dogs then the data will never be shared
and only through sharing data will we continue to help improve the health of this lovely breed.
