Yeah the carrier sends specific service books that allow full wifi access

I got Wifi to work on our internal access point. The device does not have active data plans. Other hot spot/access points do not work.

I am thinking there's something with the carrier preventing this also.

Thanks

Yeah that's correct. Wifi will only get you to a certain point however without data service you won't get email etc

I seem to recall reading somewhere recently that WiFi is now dependant on the carrier data - you cannot have it without a data plan. Perhaps is was BB forums???

Anyone else?

No. I have a WLAN Profiles setup on the BlackBerry 8820. They connect fine, until the host routing table information is lost. The other question is why the device isn't able to connect to the BES via the BlackBerry network over other Wi-Fi access point/hotspot.

Are you attempting to connect by scanning a WLAN?

Thanks!

Hi,

Does anyone have experience with setting up BlackBerry on BES with Wi-Fi only access? (e.g. no dependency on AT&T or Verizon) I was able to get a device provisioned this way, but the device would loose the Host Routing Table required to make the connection to the BlackBerry network. Thanks

Do these phones have an active data plan?
