BBM can be audited, but it's very messy and nothing like logging PIN or SMS 
messages.
If auditing is enabled, the user's device will email a copy of the conversation 
to an audit email address that you specify.
A copy of the outgoing message will also be seen by the user in their Sent mail 
folder.

I would advise your execs to reconsider, as this has the potential to be an 
administrative headache for you.
If they're that concerned about the content of BBM, then a better choice may be 
to simply block its use entirely.

The execs just advised that I enable BBM logging... Does BES support this out 
of the box?  If not, are there any 3rd party apps that people can recommend to 
do this?  BES 4.1.6 btw
