I believe the installation logs are kept in c:\program files\research in
motion\blackberry enterprise server\logs\installer (for 4.1.x at least).
Hopefully you'll be able to find something there. The files have the *.log
extension.

If you still can't get around the upgrade, have you considered an
uninstall of 4.1.6.14 and a clean install of 5.0? I know it'll be a big
pain to recreate all your settings but it might be a last resort option.

Subject
[Bes-admins] 5.0 Installation issues

Hi there
I am trying to install/upgrade BES 5.0 with MR3
I currently am on ver 4.1.6.14

When I run the setup file after the gigantic download and extract.
I get this error "Blackberry Enterprise Server has failed. Please check
the install log for details.
Setup will now exit.

There’s no install log on the server to be found. I even did a search for
just text file on the server.

I logged in and tried the install with the besadmin acct.
The Besadmin account is in the local server’s admin group.
I have done this a thousand times before and I could have done it in my
sleep.
I tried to do it with a domain admin account but it gives me a error” You
must continue the installation with the account you started with.”
So somewhere on the server either a file or a registry entry it knows that
I have tried to install the software. If I could get rid of that I might
get it installed.
I copied the install package to another server and the install ran fine.
Just to check the initial download.
I have called RIM twice (We have a T account) and they are looking into
it??

Thoughts and ideas so I can upgrade my server?
