I have this happen on occasion and have an easy fix... it's a corrupted contacts file on the BB. Turn off wireless sync on the BB for contacts. Then connect to desktop and start BB Desktop manager. Go into Backup & Restore, Advanced. On the device databases listed on the right, select the Address Book and then choose Clear. You may have to do this a couple times to make sure they are all gone. Then disconnect and turn the wireless sync back on the contacts and they'll all come back in from Outlook.... One person had a large amount of contacts and the contact sync would fail at a certain point. I narrowed it down to a corrupt contact. I ended up having to go through exporting the contacts, deleting incomplete ones and then re-importing the new list (all in Lotus Notes).
