Yes, fully hosted. Aside from setting up the account with the provider, all you need to do is point your domain’s MX record to them. The provider does the filtering and relays the filtered messages to your mail server.
For security/accuracy reasons, in an environment like this, you’d configure your firewall to only accept SMTP traffic from the anti-spam provider. This eliminates the possibility of anyone circumventing the filtering service and sending mail directly to your mail server. Messagelabs also provides “store & forward” service. In the event that your mail server goes down for some reason, messages get queued at Messagelabs and will be delivered to your mail server when it comes back online.
