I can't touch on verizon but I tether my att bold to a macbook while on the
road via bluetooth using standard os modem app. I run a citrix connection
perfectly while making phone calls. Drains th battery like crazy but works
well! Locations tested range from DC to Boston.

If anyone has tested the 5.0 software on an att bold please contact me
directly. I want to test drive it but want to discuss risks first.

Ah thanks for the clarification! (I don't read fine print, I leave that
up to the accountants!)

I'll add this information into my mobile agreement policy. Thanks!

att is capped at 5gig also. Its clearly shown in the allowance column of
data usage on the bill.

It's not unlimited. If you read the fine print on the agreement you'll
see that Verizon caps usage at 5GB per billing cycle.

Most carriers do this.

Agreed on that. What people don't know about air cards is the data
usage is very low for what you pay for. Whereas the BB is unlimited.

The BB Storm has a special VZ Access Manager program. But it does work.
Our costs with VZW is $15/month for Broadband Access, but still
significantly cheaper than an AirCard. AirCards are a big waste of
money.

I use this feature all the time, and never understood why people use VZ
Manager at all - Its not required. Install BB Desktop Manager (Required
for the drivers) and create a Dial-Up Network connection through the
Windows Wizard.

No VZ Manager required - You do of course have to have tethering enabled
on your account, unless you're using tetherberry... in which case you
wouldn't be using VZ Manager J

We have blackberry storm phones. When we purchased them we were under
the impression that we could tether them to our PC and use the Internet.
We have Verizon. I can't seem to get the VZ Manager software to detect
the phones. I talked to Verizon Tech Support and they said the phone
firmware version 5.0 doesn't work. Does anyone know a work around?
