It's the OS level that matters, not the device. I believe OS 4.5 and lower has
the password in the Security sub menu, where the OS 4.6 and higher has it's own
submenu.

FYI when you apply the IT policy and push it down, the users will be prompted
to enter and confirm a New Password. I'd suggest that you let them know this
ahead of time and just push out the policy. This will prevent the calls from
going to the helpdesk. I'd also advise them that if they go through the 10
attempts that the device will wipe, and that if they need their password reset
to contact the helpdesk/BES Admin.

Subject: [Bes-admins] Changing Device Passwords

I am getting ready to deploy an IT security policy requiring users to set a
password on their devices. I am preparing a document to instruct our helpdesk
on how to instruct users to change their password. I personally have both a
Bold 9000 and World Edition. I noticed the option to change the password is in
a slightly different place on these 2 models.

Options, Security Options, Password, and select "Change Password". (Blackberry
Bold 9000)

OR

Options, Security, General Settings, Press Menu button, and select "Change
Password". (Blackberry World Edition)

Can someone tell me if this is the only two variations or if there are many
others depending on the models. We have tons of models and want to make sure
the helpdesk is equipped to quickly help the user without looking it up each
time. Short of proving a link to the user manual for each device, I wasn't sure
of a clever way to handle this.

Thanks
