get winternals fid procmon either 32 or 64 bit (depends on your os) all you
need to do is kill the agents, everything works fine after that. They auto
re-start in seconds, also works good if you have a few user's having bberry
issues, find server/agent they are on and kill that agent only

Everytime I bounce our mail server, I wait for it to come back on, then restart
BES.

Seriously folks ... let's get back on topic.
How often do you restart your BES? Only when patches are required or there is
some big error / problem. If you have planned
reboots of your BES because of problems start to drum up then you have a
systematic / architecture flaw that needs to be addressed.
BES isn't an application that needs reboots to "clear it up".
And to hopefully end the discussion on "how many users do you put on a BES on
ESX?" I've had 4000 users on a single BES.
You can pretty much put any app on ESX ... the reason vendors don't want to
support applications on virtual servers is because
server admins / engineers / architects don't properly spec the resources
required for the application. Baselining and benchmarking
a server for 8 hours one day just doesn't cut it. Lucky for BES it isn't too
taxing on Disk I/O which is without a doubt the single
most improperly spec'd resource for a virtual environment.
I'd also stay away from multiple nics; just isn't needed.
Back to your regularly scheduled programming; Happy Friday.

Curious...do you incorporate a second Intel NIC with ESX for BES or share at
the 100 user level?

Running BES 5.0 on a virtual server, roughly 550 users. I restart on updates or
if we have an issue. Only happens every couple of
months or so.
