Personally, I can see this being a valid question if you're not sure how
different BES 5 is in terms of the database than BES 4. From what I've seen,
it's not much different, but I think it's a reasonable question.
Though when I was moving to 5, I didn't even think of the database size, I was
more concerned with BAS.

It is quite relevant. It's your environment! :)

I thought of that but as it is running on 4.1.6 I wasn't sure if that was still
relevant.

Wouldn't it make sense to look at your current database size and use that as a
starting point?

The rule used to be 100 meg for the base database and 1 meg per user. I think
it's changed a bit in 5, but not sure of the hard rule. We have about 300
users, and the database is 500 meg. Even with 1100 users, your SQL database
likely will be one of the smaller ones your SQL team deals with.

Guys,
I need my Database team to create a MS Sql Server instance for my new BES 5.0
servers and I need to know how much space each database instance requires. Can
you give me a rule of thumb to provide to them. This server currently has about
1100 users on it and wont be growing much.
Thanks
