Absolutely not required! As long as this account is able to send mail out of
the org, it does not need to receive anything from outside.

Subject: [Bes-admins] BES Admin Service Account Email Address

Greetings one and all,

The BES Admin service acct mailbox we use to send notifications (e.g.
activation passwords) to activated users currently has an external-enabled
address (meaning anyone outside the org can send email to it). I wanted to
know if this is required for the mailbox to function; I'd prefer to give it an
internal SMTP that restricts sending to only mailboxes in the Exchange 2003 org
in order to eliminate (in other words, it would go from
[email protected]<mailto:[email protected]> to
[email protected]<mailto:[email protected]>). And, in changing the
address, would I need to restart the BES Server or services?

Thanks!
