I ran install as suggested by Chris. That fixed Item 1. 

Item 0 persists. Term bombs out with no message, just vanishes, at all
attempts to use windows clipboard (Ctl-c, Ctl-v, Ctl-x, or just a right
click) in Term

Item 2:  Help->about now gives a proper message box;

1 suggests that you are using old binaries. Could you try running the
install again - it can be run anytime. See
