My experience suggests that that would not work.

Download the zip from there, then, for Mac: unzip and put unzipped
j*801 directory Applications, in Terminal: cd into your new j*801
directory, run bin/jconsole, in jconsole run install'qtide' (then you
can exit that terminal session).  [j*801 will really be j64-801 if you
downloaded the 64 bit version and something else if you downloaded the
32 bit version.]

After performing these steps you should be able to use jqt801 from Launchpad.
