The svn checkout addons works fine for me, so I doubt there is anything wrong with the repo itself.
Are you using the command line or tortoise svn? If the latter, please try from the command line. If the problem is with tortoise svn, then likely its configuration is broken. As Bill says, you only need checkout trunk.
