I should perhaps have said that I tried downloading the 64-bit version also, ie jqt-win-x64.zip, which I think is the version Alain discusses below. Avast also kept quiet on that one! I expect it's just some suspicious-looking pattern of bytes or bits that happen to appear in recent 32-bit versions, or, more likely, Avast's latest update happens to include a match for some long-standing pattern in ...x86.zip .

Meanwhile, I've reinstalled AVG for the nonce. It's also happy with my jqt.exe ...
